Practice & victory

One academy season, three regional titles, and a trophy cabinet that needed a second shelf.

Overview

Last spring our junior academy set a simple goal: turn clean practice habits into match-day nerve. Coaches rebuilt every session around pressure — tiebreak cookers, serve-clock drills, and Friday match evenings with real umpires.

The challenge

Our juniors out-rallied everyone in practice and tightened up in tournaments. Beautiful strokes, fragile scoreboards. The gap wasn't talent — it was rehearsal under pressure.

The approach

Every drill ended with something on the line: sprints, silly forfeits, ladder points. Players kept pressure journals, practiced routines between points, and played monthly graded events before touching a regional draw.

Outcome

Three regional titles, nine finalists, and — the stat coaches quote most — a squad that now asks for the deciding tiebreak instead of fearing it.
